David Cardoza has got his man and Gary Johnson has been named the new Northampton Town manager. The former Yeovil, Bristol City and Peterborough man was quickly identified as the number one target and joins on a two and a half year contract.
Having taken Yeovil to two promotions from conference to League One and steered City back to the Championship as well as being the Latvian national manager for two years there’s a wealth of experience coming into the club and having suffered from a real down day with Sammo’s departure the other day this has really lifted the spirits.
We’re yet to learn whether Johnson will be in charge tomorrow or not but either way it’s a tough, tough start for him with Shrewsbury and Chesterfield waiting this week.

1988: Appointed Reserve team manager at Cambridge United before going on to become assistant manager to John Beck in 1990.
1992: Becomes Cambridge first team manager.
1999: Named Latvian national team coach.
2001: Joins Yeovil Town as manager and wins the FA Trophy in first season.
2002: Helps the Glovers to promotion into the football league.
2004: Leads Yeovil to the League Two title in only second season in the league.
2005: Appointed Bristol City boss.
2007: Gains promotion from League One with City in a season that included an 18 match unbeaten run.
2008: Takes City all the way to the Championship Playoff Final where they are eventually beaten by Hull City.
2010: Departs Ashton gate and joins Peterborough United a few months later.
2011: Sacked by Posh in January.
