Cobblers seal Hawley loan deal
Stuart Gray has completed his second loan deal of the week as he snaps up striker Karl Hawley on a month long deal from Championship side Preston North End.
Hawley began his career at Walsall and after a successful loan spell at Scottish side Raith Rovers, moved to Carlisle United where he helped to shoot the Cumbrians into the Football League.
Back in the league, Hawley scored 26 times to fire Carlisle to a second promotion in two years before scoring 12 times in League One during the 2006/07 season. He joined former Carlisle boss Paul Simpson at Preston in the summer of 2007 but has struggled to make an impact at Championship level.
Gray has signed Hawley in time to face Peterborough United in the derby game this Saturday and he could make his debut alongside Adebayo Akinfenwa up front.
