It was a poor start to the new season last night as No Saints went down to the League Three champions of last season, Rat Madrid.
Abib, Andy and Tim were all missing from the squad but we stormed into a 3-0 lead in the opening ten minutes with a goal from Dave, one from Phil and an own goal. But Madrid came back and managed to turn the game around in quick fashion as their goalkeeper scored via a deflection and then four more went in to stun the whites.
We pulled one back through Jamie to make it 5-4 but late goals put pay to any plans to start the new season in style and we fell to defeat.
