Double loan signing as Gray bolsters defence

The Cobblers have today beat the loan deadline to sign Fulham defender Adam Watts and West Brom defender Jared Hodgkiss until the end of the season. With options at the back running low after Chris Doig's recent injury along with Carl Magnay going back to Chelsea early, Gray has bolstered his back line ahead of a hectic run in.

Watts stands at 6'1 and is a graduate from Fulham's academy and has previously spent some time on loan at MK Dons in 2005/06. In September of last year, Watts signed a new contract with Fulham, keeping him at Craven Cottage until 2010.

Right-back Hodgkiss also came through the rankings at his club, joining West Brom's youth set -up in 2003 before signing pro forms in 2006. He has been at Scottish Premier League side Aberdeen for the first half of this season, making eight appearances.

Both Jason Crowe and Chris Doig could be out of Saturday's trip to Carlisle as precious survival points are stake once more. It seemed odd that Watts could possibly only play in midweek games due to doctors' advice but the recruiting of Hodgkiss will give us another option.

So more loans incoming and surely there's never been a season like it for loan players coming in, with Stuart Gray easily able to name a team from all the loans he's had in 2008/09 so far!
