The Cobblers have signed Chelsea defender Carl Magnay on a month long loan ahead of tonight’s game with Millwall at the New Den. Stuart Gray was denied the chance to sign a Championship striker last week but did manage to get the signature of Magnay in time for this evening’s game.
Magnay, 20, has featured for the Chelsea reserve team regularly this season whilst also spending some time on loan at MK Dons, where he made two appearances. He can either play at the back or as a holding midfielder and came to Chelsea’s attention when he won 2006’s Football Icon television show.
Magnay will stay at Sixfields until after the Southend game on Easter Monday.
