The Cobblers have signed 25-year-old striker Adebayo Akinfenwa on a short-term deal until the end of the season. The pacy and powerful front man has most recently been with Millwall after rejecting a contract from Swansea at the end of last season.
Akinfenwa began his career in non-league but made his mark with Torquay United after signing with the Gulls in 2004. He scored fourteen goals in League One before moving to Swansea for £85,000 in 2005. He helped them to reach the League One playoff final in his first season with the club and scored fourteen league goals in all with the welsh club.
The striker rejected a new contract with The Swans and joined Millwall following his recovery from injury. Akinfenwa has been allocated squad number ten.
