London weekender!

The weekends of madness continued this week as we headed up to London for a random stroll around and a couple of nice meals.

Ti’s friends, Nikki and Christian, had very nicely agreed to put us up for Saturday night so Ti and I travelled up to London with Jamie and Anna and planned a roam around the capital for a relaxing day out. Jamie and Anna’s excuse for the trip up was that they were celebrating their one year anniversary so congratulations to them and so nice to see them both so happy a year on!

We went our separate ways and Ti and I headed for the Tate Modern after dropping our overnight things off in New Malden. The Tate was a nice way to relax into the weekend and to escape the madness of London on a Saturday afternoon! Although there were plenty of people there, it was still a calming atmosphere to chill out in.

Heading off to Camden was next and I was quite proud to only spend £10 in a very cool photo and frame of Stonehenge that now sits on my bedroom wall. Ti was fortunate to come across a closing down dale with lots of cheap, pretty things in to take home!

After a quick coffee, we headed to Chinatown for dinner. It was my first look at Chinatown and we picked quite a crazy restaurant for my first visit. I can’t recall the name of it but it housed one of the most eccentric waitresses you’re ever likely to meet as she screamed at anyone who walked in the door and at the smallest hint that you’d finished your meal she would yell “FINISHED?” at them in order to make space!

The other workers looked on bemused and slightly scared as she went about her routine but it was certainly entertaining until I got the brunt of her anger by taking my debit card out of the machine too early. We were shoved out of the restaurant and headed for safer grounds and some sleep!

We met up again with Jamie and Anna on Sunday for a pub lunch before heading home weary and tired after the latest in the road trip diaries! Luckily I have a day off today to recover which is well needed!
