No Saints returned from the winter break with a battling performance and a fine win over fellow promoted side Red Star Five. Goals from Abib and Jamie gave us the points in a hard fought win to lift us into the top half of League One.
On a chilly evening in Eastleigh, Red Star began the game with three men so had to call upon help from two Championship players until the other two players turned up! By that time we were in front as Abib took his tally to six for the season early in the game.
We held on till half time at 1-0 but Red Star were getting more and more into the game as it progressed and got a deserved equaliser with around ten minutes left following a string of good saves from Aaron.
But just as it looked like we were out of steam, Jamie stepped up to fire home the winner with just a couple of minutes to spare to hand us a massive three points.
The other results were tight once again and it's going to be a roller coaster season but it's great to be in such a competitive league and having such tight games every week. The fitness after the Christmas food intake wasn't great but hopefully that will improve again as the weeks go on!
